The Vegan Coconut Body & Hair Butter contains the following ingredients: coconut oil, almond oil, cocoa butter, vegan butter or oil (such as shea butter, mango butter, or avocado oil) and essential oil (optional) which may have benefits for both hair and skin.
Vegan Coconut Body & Hair Butter Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup almond oil
1/4 cup cocoa butter
1/4 cup vegan butter or oil (such as shea butter, mango butter, or avocado oil)
10-20 drops of essential oil (optional)
Equipment:
1 - 2 glass jars or cosmetic-safe containers for storing the finished product.
The recipe makes about 1 1/4 cups of body butter. If you are using 4 oz jars, you will need 2 jars. If you are using 8 oz jars, you will need 1 jar.
Prep time: Approximately 10-15 minutes
Instructions:
Fill the bottom of the double boiler with water & bring the water to a boil over medium heat.In the top part of the double boiler, combine the coconut oil, almond oil, cocoa butter, and vegan butter or oil.
Place the top part of the double boiler (or the glass bowl) over the boiling water and allow the ingredients to melt, stirring occasionally.
Once the ingredients are fully melted and combined, remove the top portion of the double boiler from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly. If desired, add 10-20 drops of your preferred essential oil to the mixture.
Pour the butter blend into a glass jar or cosmetic-safe container and allow it to solidify completely.
